Performance Blog - Michael Murphy's

Quick note as I wait to board my flight back to Shreveport... Michael Murphy's Piano Bar in Oklahoma City could possibly be my absolute favourite #duelingpianos room to perform in, and playing there last weekend pretty much confirmed that fact.

The team was house player Marc Van Lue (one of my favourite people in general), PJ Gartrell, whom I'd never met, but got on with like a house on fire (and I don't think ever stops smiling, like, ever!), and myself (obvs). Thursday night was particularly busy, and the weekend was solid as always.

I think I first visited Oklahoma City back in 2008 with The Ten Tenors, and a lot has changed since then. There are now lots of funky bars and restaurants and coffee shops, and the downtown area has a new tram system and has an overall great vibe.

I spent most of my spare time during the days working on arrangement for a client in the UK, so didn't really get out much on this trip, but the shows were fun, and it was worth the one-hour of sleep I got on Saturday night before flying back home to North Carolina at 6 am Sunday morning.
